Car modification, explained before you pay for it

Most pages about modifying a car are trying to sell you the thing being described. These are not. RenderCar covers the decisions that come before the money: which colors survive daylight and resale, which modifications still look deliberate in three years, and how to see any of it on your own car first.

Color and finish

Color is the decision people revisit most and research least. These separate the hue question from the finish question from the bill, because they have different answers.

Wraps and film

A wrap is several decisions in a trench coat: whether to wrap at all, what it costs, how to design it, how long it survives and what it does to the paint underneath.

Body and trim

Panels, trim and the parts that bolt to them. Some of this is reversible in an afternoon and some of it is permanent — the difference is stated on every page.

Previews and AI

Every preview method lies somewhere, and knowing where is the whole skill. A flat mockup cannot show drape over a mirror cap; a screen cannot show what metallic paint does as you walk past it.

How this site is written

Every price carries a dateFree tiers and quotes in this category change within weeks, so each figure says when it was read. A comparison without dates becomes a source of errors faster than it earns traffic.
Nothing here is for saleNo cart, no subscription, no affiliate booking. When a tool is worth naming we name it, including the parts that are worse than the alternative.
The honest answer is often noSeveral pages here end by telling you not to do the thing they describe. A guide that never reaches that conclusion is an advert with headings.

Who writes this, how each figure gets its date, and what happens when the app ships are on the about page. The terms of use cover the boring but real limit: none of this is a quote, and nothing here replaces someone looking at your car.
